Definitely not. CrossFit is a fitness program that is designed for EVERYONE. You do not need to be in shape or have any CrossFit experience to do the workouts because each one can be scaled to your abilities and goals.
At CrossFit LPF our workouts are programmed with different levels for beginners, intermediate and experienced participants. Each workout includes a variety of exercises that can be modified if necessary. Can’t do a push-up? Do them from your knees. Can’t do that? Use a band for assistance. Because every exercise in CrossFit is also functional, meaning they mimic the movements we do in everyday (lift things, squat, climb, pull, push) it’s important that all our clients can perform the workouts so they can get stronger for their day-to-day activities. In order to get people healthy and more fit, it’s really important the workouts are scalable and can be done by anyone.
Group classes are always led by a certified coach who is there to instruct you, offer modifications, recommendations, encouragement and support. They are also there to ensure that you are working safely and also progressing over time.
How hard is CrossFit for someone not currently exercising?
The answer is as hard as you want it to be. Workouts are usually designed with the goal of getting as many rounds or reps as you can within a certain amount of time. “Hard” is a relative term, meaning that what is difficult for one person, may not be for another. But, with that said, CrossFit (or any form of exercise) should be challenging for each individual if you want to see change. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”
CrossFit basics for beginners
Beginners might feel intimidated so we have a Foundations program that prepares you for our group classes. This consists of four 45-minute personal training sessions that teach you the fundamental movements of CrossFit programmed in our daily workouts. In other words, it’s the CrossFit basics for beginners! These sessions also teach you terminology, safety and how to scale movements to your own fitness level. Each session includes a warm-up, instruction & a good beginner CrossFit workout.
How often should I do CrossFit?
The answer depends mostly on your training experience, your goals and of course how much time you have. But, for beginners we recommend that you try to work out 3x a week, working out 1 day and taking 1 day off. After about 3-6 months or when you feel ready, try to increase to 4-5 times a week.
When do you start seeing results from CrossFit?
On average, if you eat well and work out 3-4 times a week, in roughly two to three weeks of regular CrossFit workouts, you should notice an improvement in your skills and your fitness and energy level. In 3-4 weeks, you’ll start seeing a difference in your body and within a few months, you should see significant changes in your body.
