April Newsletter by Amanda Leonardi

When a big event is around the corner and you just don’t have the time, this is the only crash diet that will work. All it takes is 7-days and 3 easy steps, which must be done daily, to aid in digestion, rid your body of water retention and de-bloat.

1. THE 90/10 RULE
One of the most important things you can do is to eat foods that are high in nutrients.

Crash-Diet-That-WorksFilling your body with nutrients is one way to curve your appetite. Ninety percent of your intake during your 7-day crash diet should consist of fruit, vegetables and legumes while only 10% should be sweets, dairy and meats. Foods that are higher on the nutrient density scale give you the most nutrients for fewer amount of calories.

Basically, by following the 10/10 Rule, you get “more bang for your buck”

2. THE B.O.M.
BOM represents the three key ingredients to include in your meal prep:

Berries – Berries are rich in protective polyphenols, do not raise insulin levels and also aid in the reduction of body fat. Be sure to include a good amount berries in your daily diet.

Onions –  According to Dr. Joel Fuhrman, MD, onions, leeks, garlic, shallots, chives and scallions have a low glycemic load and also inhibit fat storage hormones. These ingredients are also low in calories.

Mushrooms – Mushrooms contain nutrients that prevent new blood vessel growth which also inhibits the growth of fat tissue and tumors. Not only will including mushrooms in your intake present fat storage, mushrooms are also an anti-cancer food that will promote weight loss according to Fuhrman.

3. DEBLOAT SMOOTHIE
Lastly, incorporate this simple 4-ingredient debloat smoothie into your day.

4 oz. pomegranate
4 oz. water
1 cup frozen strawberries
Squeeze of lemon

Please note: Using this mini “crash diet” is the perfect way to start you off in the right direction. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the best way to lose weight and keep it off.
