CrossFit LPF is excited to introduce our “2018” January – March “Athlete of the Quarter” Mrs. Ronnell Ferrell”!

For as long as we’ve owned a gym, we periodically select members to celebrate and every time we do, we are reminded of how blessed we are to call our gym a “family”. Ronnell is one of many athletes responsible for helping to shape our community. If you ask her how she found out about us, she’ll most likely say “My husband made me go”. I specifically remember Jim, who is also one of our long time members, talking to me about his desire for Ronnell to try CrossFit. I also remember him saying “I don’t think she’ll like it but we can try”. Ah! I love when people say that! Well Ronnell did try CrossFit and overtime, grew to love it so much that she’s been with us for 3+ years. She has grown to be one of the most committed CrossFitter’s I know. She is “In It to Win it”. You can count on her to be present for at least 5 or more classes on any given week, wearing whatever “just came out” in CrossFit gear and the first to try a NEW skill. If it’s a Partner WOD, we can Team Ronnell up with the newest, shyest person and she’ll be fine with it. She’s super friendly, helpful and energetic. If we host a social, you can count on her to bring more food then we need. We never have to ask her for help. During a recent hurricane, she was one of the first athletes to ask if we needed help preparing for the hurricane and the last to leave. Both her and Jim were and always are a huge help to us. Loyal, Supportive, Happy, Kind, Coachable and a Hard Worker are just a few words that describe this awesome human!

We asked Ronnell a few questions about her experience with CrossFit and here’s what she had to say…

What do you love most about CrossFit? Showing up every day is like Christmas! A big surprise! You never know what your gonna do but you always feel good later!

CrossFit in general is an awesome sport but what makes CFLPF so special? You can be yourself and grow at your own pace, no matter your level. The people here always support your effort.
What is your favorite lift and why (include your 1 rep max weight)?
I have no favorite lifts (not my finest skill) but I love box jumps!

Do you have a most embarrassing (funny) CF moment? I peed on myself once lifting heavy weight! Well, several times! Actually, we all have done it (or so I’ve heard). Ha!

What’s your “all time” favorite type of workout, Benchmark or Hero WOD?
Murph: 1 Mile Run, 100 Pull Ups, 200 Push Ups, 300 Air Squats, 1 Mile Run!

CrossFit can be a bit intimidating if you’ve never tried it. What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying it? Do the best you can, everyone started as a “beginner”. From my experience, you will always be encouraged and supported no matter how little you can do. Just don’t be afraid to try!

Ronnell, thank you for your kind words of encouragement, your commitment to our program, your excitement about health & fitness and for being supportive in our mission to help others be better. We Love You!

Athletes, please join us in congratulating our Athlete of the Quarter!
