CrossFit LPF is excited to introduce our 2018 April – June “Athlete of the Quarter”… Mr. Ricardo Picon!

Where do I begin! This guy is a pain in my butt . If he’s late for class, he doesn’t run in, he walks in . He loves to talk while I’m going over the workout , I don’t think he counts his reps during the Burpee portion of the warm up and on most days, he usually yells out “wait! I gotta pee!” about 10 seconds before we start the WOD clock leaving everyone waiting for him ‍♂️. Like I said, he’s a pain in my butt . Ok! Now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you why we chose him as our Athlete of the Quarter . This guy is AWESSSSSSOME in every sense of the word! Ricky is a super funny guy, he’s friendly, encouraging to his fellow athletes, supportive of us and our mission to help and serve others, he’s a loyal member, gives his time freely to others, he’s a great dad and husband and is all about his CrossFit community and his family! Ricardo is one of the many reasons why we have such a great gym community. We are blessed to have an athlete like Ricky on our team.

We asked Ricardo a few questions about his experience with CrossFit and here’s what he had to say…

What do you love most about CrossFit? The fact that everyone around you is going through the same pain you are. We call it the “pain cave”. I also love the friendships that are made.

How long have you been training CrossFit: 6 years!

How long have you been a member of CFLPF and how did you here about us? I’ve been a member for 4 years. I had a friend that started training at CrossFit LPF and invited me over.

CrossFit in general is an awesome sport but what makes CFLPF so special? The family environment! The coaches are truly looking out for you and your interest!

What is your favorite lift and why (include your 1 rep max weight)? The Squat Clean, #235. I love it because it doesn’t require cardio!!!

Do you have a most embarrassing (funny) CF moment? If so, tell us… we promise not to tell anyone. I don’t really have one, other than I always have to pee before a WOD. LOL!

What’s your “all time” favorite Benchmark or Hero WOD? MURPH, it brings me back to earth knowing that the WOD is in Honor of a fallen shipmate.

CrossFit can be a bit intimidating if you’ve never tried it. What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying it? Don’t be intimidated. You won’t know how awesome CrossFit is until you give it a shot, and you might be surprised at the outcome.

Ricky, thank you for being an awesome person! Thank you for being supportive in our mission to help others be better. We Love You!

Athletes, please join us in congratulating our Athlete of the Quarter!
